DYER & BUTLER TO DRIVE DOWN ROAD ACCIDENTS AND FLEET INSURANCE COSTS 11/12/2015

Dyer & Butler, the multi-disciplined civil engineering organisation, is targeting improvements in road safety and a reduction in insurance costs with the adoption of an advanced 3G vehicle camera solution. The company has teamed up with Intelligent Telematics to install the industry-leading IT1000 3G device across 220 vans, operated by its team of engineers, operatives and foremen, which will provide immediate access to footage and supporting data for any collision, near miss or harsh driving event.

Dyer & Butler undertook a detailed review of the marketplace before selecting the IT1000 vehicle camera to operate alongside an existing tracking solution. The company chose the 3G device based on the added capabilities it offered, especially when compared to traditional SD-card technology, including the ability to have full visibility of any incidents within seconds of them occurring.

Driver behaviour monitoring will become a key aspect of the solution, with Dyer & Butler monitoring the performance of drivers within its fleet. By combining detailed driver behaviour data along with camera footage, the company will gain useful insight into how vehicles are being operated. This will enable the company to identify areas of improvement, so it can target a reduction in vehicle-related accidents through improved driver training and staff engagement initiatives.

Phil Smith, Vehicle & Plant Manager at Dyer & Butler commented: “Having achieved the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) silver accreditation and become a Construction Logistics and Cyclist Safety (CLOCS) Champion, we are highly committed to road safety and operating responsibly. Therefore, we needed a robust-and industry-leading partner that we could work closely with to help deliver driver behaviour improvements along with insurance savings. The 3G camera solution will become an essential tool moving forward by providing immediate access to camera footage when an incident occurs.”
